Look away from the Ship and Shovell and you will spot the next pub through the alley, The Sherlock Holmes.
This pub is owned by Greene King but as well as their usual IPA and Abbott Ales, you will also find a special beer named for the pub, Sherlock Holmes Ale and the Greene King Royal London Ale which I believe is all in the name having neither Royal nor London connections - marketing huh ? All the same it is a tasty flavoursome beer.
There are many pubs in London that have plenty to offer the tourist as well as the resident Londoner. This pub though seems to be very much a tourist haunt - a Sherlock Holmes theme pub if you like.
